2/6/18 The one that's late and all about sleep.

2/6/2018
So I'm cutting a little bit into my sleeping time, but I'll do what I can to say what needs to be said with minimal wasted effort so I can go home and get to sleep post haste. Basically, with all the things that have been required of me lately I've had to make my schedule substantially more intense and block out times that I sleep very carefully, making it a first priority. With that in mind, I am very bad at 1. setting my alarm clock to the right time or 2. setting it to "on" at all. But I do feel much more rested, so small blessings are there. Financially, these next two months are scary, but I'm not ill equipped to handle the challenges they present. So, I'm just steadily directing 10% of my income to tithing, 15% to the next financial goal that I have in mind and then the last 75% to the next most pressing issue, and so far, I haven't had to dip into my savings at all which is fantastic. Of course I'm still borderline working myself to death at some points, but the 15% happening no matter what makes me feel that I'm at least murdering myself for a reason that has a bit more longevity than a trip to New York and Europe this Spring and Summer.

Other news? I wrote a reaaaally bad paper last week in a rush and it was absolutely brutalized by corrections (which was sort of the point, and not a huge deal because we get a re-write, it is just a gen ed after all). But, it did shake my confidence a little bit, which I'm slowly rebuilding in reference to scholarly efforts. I know I'm a smart dude and like doing challenging things, but I've been styling myself to be much more of a creator of real things and not scholastic constructs. (SHOW ME THE MONEY). But, now I'm giving myself 2-3 hours pretty regularly at College after class to intentionally do schoolwork and really digest things. So that feels nice. I was supposed to run 3 miles today and woke up too late to get to work and run beforehand, so now I'm a bit behind. I'll just continue my workout regiment as if I had done the run and call my partial week last week a satisfactory compensation for a day. This level of strict scheduling frankly extreme, and I rarely have more than 15-30 between appointments or expectations to get to places. Already, because I had to clock out and sleep during a night shift at work, I'm 1.5ish hours behind on work at my main job, but I'll get ahead soon. I also have 7-8 hours more at my side job sooooo things happen. Total I'm at 17 hours of work total for the week. And it's Tuesday morning. I mean, I don't mean to brag, but I am preeeettty cool if I do say so myself. So yes I do mean to brag.

Still keeping up on reading a book a week, last week was a collection of little vignettes from Spice and Wolf that were fun and now I'm reading a historical book about China written in the 1980's and boy is the ethnocentricity alive and well. They're doing their best though.

Anyways! Signing off.
