12/24/2017 (Or Christmas for humans who do things other than work)

Accomplishment on last weeks goals.
1. I have earned well over 700$. My job has allowed us to take unlimited overtime and over the holidays we even get more than normal overtime rates. So, frankly I stopped counting. Even now I've clocked out for a little bit of a sanity break, I am still at work. All is work. I have managed to put away just under half of my intended emergency fund, but that was also after paying my rent in advance and several other bills. Had I timed things slightly differently I'd probably have my fund already, but then would stress about hitting bill deadlines, so I figured delaying the success on paper for a short period of time was wise. I WAY overspent my intended 50$ spending limit goal, but then I also completely forgot that this week was when the whole Christmas thing happened. Work robots only see Christmas as an increase in wage.

(What I learned)
My number one goal is always based on my current life focus, in this case becoming totally debt free, as defined by Dave Ramseys' Financial Peace program. I believe that while my earning has skyrocketed, my budgeting has fallen off, mostly because I keep travelling around with said budget and then losing it. This next week I shall focus on that with new gusto.

2. So I ran slightly under my intended 12 miles, something like 11.68 or so. 3 of those runs were on a treadmill and the last was my longest and most enjoyable. I like moving around. I decided not to register for a marathon yet. My trip to Europe still doesn't have fully defined times and I would hate to plan one that conflicted with it, so I'm going to push it out. But with the research I did I know I have a ton of options.

(What I learned)
There is no more disgusting feeling than running, and feeling your belly fat jiggle. Also, a huge part of the equation in fitness is Diet. And Holy cow the American diet is garbage. I want to go back to my Chinese learned dietary habits, but doing something counter cultural takes extra effort, so I won't worry too much about it now, I'll just try to eat less and keep running. Also, I learned that running to Parks and Recreation makes me laugh way to loud, but keeps me moving on treadmills.

3. I did go on a date! And it was with a super cute girly, we aren't going forward too fast, but I like her. Meeting someone new was kind of a bust, but I'm sure there was someone somewhere in all the chaos of this week I could consider as having been "met".

(What I learned)
Not much, romance and social life is hard ya'll.

4. I still need to buy my university books ):, one I can probably get for extremely cheap from a third party provider and the other is a forced like 100 dollar cost password for a math quiz, which frankly feels akin to extortion. Well, really it is, but that's the name of the game. I got about 3 pages of Chinese in, I loved doing it to, but it is quite hard to find any time that isn't either actively sleeping so I can work more or doing the bare minimum so that my dirt ridden pelt doesn't grant the festering microbes settling into it sentience. (I mean like, showering.) More on that later.

(What I learned)
Don't put to do list items into a Goal list, that's not how that works. Well... Sort of? Dunno.

5. Failed to memorize the Schumann piece, at all, but I did carry it around in my backpack for a week. Again, just overbooked myself, more on that later. I sightread about 8 pieces of music, singing and playing, but next time I do that goal I think I will split it up into playing piano, sight singing it, and then playing and singing it. Helps my brain assimilate more information and perform better. I wrote about 3 pages of brainstorming, and it's for a show pitch I want to make at the Improv Broadway theater, again, not enough time.

(What I learned)
The arts are a cruel mistress who don't take lightly to one divided their attention too much. Just wait my pretty, once I have tamed my funds, you shall be mine.

So if I had to grade myself on effort, easily a 9/10, completion, maybe more of like a 6/10, but I overshot a bit, and had a huge change in life situation, that will also change my next week substantially.

This week of Progress

1. Work 80 hours at my main job (Yes, that's 40 hours of overtime). Make and follow a temporary budget for the month of December.

2. Run 12 miles again. Avoid milk, cheese, and breads, measure consumption.

And that's it. The running is honestly probably too much, but if I don't I think I'll slice off my own belly fat with a Thanksgiving Turkey carving knife. This opportunity I have to work as much overtime as this, is extremely rare, and it can enable me to change my situation substantially. I hate becoming so off-balance and overworking myself like this, but if I can work like this for the next week and take advantage of the opportunity I can finally make real substantial progress toward completing my current life focus goal, and then I'll be so much more enabled to pursue actual passions and not economic matters. It has been good for my character, but extremely unpleasant.
